Dear TOP Facilitators,
How do you help a group as large as a sector or a city work together towards a common vision? Right now there are many people in the food sector, for example who are working towards similar goals and doing similar work but aren't necessarily working together. There are some common challenges, but how does a group, without a membership organization, come together to overcome these challenges?
My organization is a membership organization and could serve this purpose and we have funding to cost community discussions and then support these discussions with research from Tulane. So far we tested this idea in the food community and we discussed our greatest challenges. However, we were talking about challenges without really knowing if we are on the same page about what we were working towards, and what challenges were preventing us from getting there.
Can you bring a group together and do a visioning / strategic planning process without having a common organization?
Perhaps I should build up membership to my organization and then work only with my members to ensure clarity of vision. i hate not to include other people who are not yet members because their opinion matters.
If there is someone out there that is willing to give some advice on this - I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks much,
Lizzy
